A product of fiddle camps, late night jam sessions, and extensive Bach technique, Emily Moore is at the forefront of an emerging scene of contemporary violin players. A third generation Southern California native, Emily was drawn to the violin almost immediately upon discovering its existence, and has only regretted that decision a couple of times thus far.

Starting at the age of four, Emily began playing both the violin and piano. Rather quickly, the violin became her primary instrument and she developed an interest in fiddle music, cultivated by her first teacher, Mary Gerard. Upon attendance at her first fiddle camp in Northern California, Emily fell in love with Scottish music. She continued her classical studies simultaneously, developing a finely honed technique and approach to the violin.

In 2004, Emily moved to Los Angeles to pursue a classical performance degree under the tutelage of Alice Schoenfeld. Quickly discovering that her interests lie with a more improvisatory approach, she has continued to freelance in Los Angeles as a performer, teacher, string arranger, and studio musician. In 2012, Emily co-founded Spirit Strings, a contemporary string quartet with a focus on music education and outreach. In 2014, she founded Ruled By Venus, a folk-rock duo with English singer-songwriter, Simon Petty. Emily has recorded for a multitude of artists, including: Post Malone, Will.i.am, Macy Gray, Johnny Depp, and Disney. She has appeared as a soloist with Miki Howard, Kerry Records, Video Game Orchestra, and daKAH Hip Hop Orchestra.

Emily graduated in May 2018 with a Performance degree in Popular Music from USC’s Thornton School of Music and is also an alumnus of Berklee College of Music. She has studied contemporary techniques extensively on the violin and believes deeply in the power of music education to transform both the student and teacher. She lives in West Los Angeles with her extremely fluffy cat, Sir Thomas, and has a small but flourishing private studio.
